Description

A beautifully traditional turkey recipe that brings the comfort of home-cooked meals to your table, perfect for holidays and family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole turkey (10-12 lbs)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon dried sage
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 onions, quartered
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Mix together the softened butter, salt, pepper, thyme, rosemary, and sage until well combined.
  3. Rub this herb butter all over the turkey, ensuring you coat it well under the skin for maximum flavor.
  4. Layer the quartered onions, chopped carrots, and celery at the bottom of your roasting pan.
  5. Place the turkey on top of the vegetables, then pour the chicken broth around it.
  6. Cover the turkey loosely with aluminum foil and roast in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours.
  7. Remove the foil during the last hour of roasting to allow the skin to brown and become crispy.
  8. Check the internal temperature of the turkey, ensuring it reaches at least 165°F (75°C) before taking it out.
  9. Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving and serving, allowing the juices to redistribute.

Notes

For added flavor, consider brining the turkey overnight. Use fresh herbs for a more vibrant taste.
