Description

Crispy and flavorful sweet chili chicken bites, perfect for a quick dinner or as an appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 2 large chicken breasts (cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • ¼ cup avocado oil or neutral oil for frying
  • ½ cup sweet chili sauce
  • ¼ cup rice vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vegetarian oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and green onion

Instructions

  1. Prep the chicken: Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces. Season with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss in cornstarch to coat evenly.
  2. Mix the glaze: In a bowl, combine sweet chili sauce, rice vinegar, soy sauce, and vegetarian oyster sauce. Set aside.
  3. Sear the chicken: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the chicken in a single layer for 4 to 5 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Do not overcrowd the pan; work in batches if needed. Remove and set aside.
  4. Thicken the glaze: In the same pan, pour in the sauce mixture and simmer for about 2 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Coat the chicken: Add the chicken back into the pan and toss until it is fully coated and glossy. Serve immediately and garnish with sesame seeds and green onion.

Notes

Let the chicken sear properly to develop a crispy exterior. It’s best to prep chicken and glaze ahead of time if needed.
