Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh or frozen sour cherries
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Combine the sour cherries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and salt in a large bowl.
- Pour the cherry mixture into the pie crust and dot with butter.
- Cover with a second pie crust, seal the edges, and cut slits for venting.
- Bake for 15 minutes at 425°F, then reduce the heat to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 30-35 minutes until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbling.
- Allow the pie to cool before serving.
