Description
A comforting casserole combining the nostalgia of Sloppy Joes with the ease of baking, perfect for busy weeknights or family gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 can sloppy joe sauce
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 1 cup bell pepper, chopped
- 2 cups tater tots
- 1 cup shredded cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and bell pepper, cooking until the beef is no longer pink and the veggies are tender. Drain any excess grease.
- Stir in the sloppy joe sauce, tasting and seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
- Spread the beef and veggie mixture evenly in a baking dish.
- Top with tater tots, arranging them in a single layer. Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the tater tots are golden and crispy.
- Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve warm.
Notes
Use freshly shredded cheese for better melt and flavor. Frozen tater tots work best for a crispy topping.
