Ingredients
- 1.5 tsp salt
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 0.75 tsp oregano
- 0.5 tsp black pepper
- 0.5 tsp chili flakes
- 0.25 tsp thyme
- 1 white onion, finely diced
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 lb ground beef
- 3 tbsp tomato puree
- 2.75 cups beef stock
- 2 cups tomato passata
- 0.75 cup cream
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 10.5 oz pasta (short shapes)
- Fresh parsley, for garnish
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 0.5 tsp sugar
Instructions
- Mix spices in a small bowl: combine salt, smoked paprika, oregano, black pepper, chili flakes, thyme, and sugar.
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the diced onion, and cook for 4-5 minutes until soft.
- Add minced garlic, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
- Cook ground beef, breaking it apart until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the tomato puree and spice mixture. Cook for 1 minute to toast the spices.
- Pour in beef stock, tomato passata, and cream. Stir to combine.
- Bring sauce to a boil. Add pasta and stir well. Simmer for 10-12 minutes until pasta is cooked and sauce is creamy.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
- Serve in bowls and garnish with fresh parsley.
Notes
For a vegetarian option, consider using lentils or plant-based ground meat. Fresh herbs can enhance flavors, but dried herbs work fine if needed.
