Description

Delightful sugar cookies infused with the aromatic flavors of Earl Grey tea, perfect for pairing with your favorite tea.

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons Earl Grey tea leaves (finely crushed)
  • 1 tablespoon bergamot oil or extract
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and bergamot oil/extract until incorporated.
  5. Gradually add in the dry mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  6. Fold in the finely crushed Earl Grey tea leaves.
  7. Scoop tablespoons of dough onto parchment-lined baking sheets, spacing each about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Cool the cookies on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.

Notes

For the best flavor, use fresh tea leaves instead of dried. If you’re out of bergamot oil, substitute with lemon extract.
