Description

Juicy, tender chicken marinated in a sweet and savory Hawaiian sauce, perfect for summer barbecues.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Optional: sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Make the marinade: In a bowl, whisk together the ketchup, soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, pineapple juice, grated ginger, minced garlic, and sesame oil until fully combined.
  2. Marinate the chicken: Place the chicken in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow container. Pour in the marinade, ensuring the chicken is well-coated. Refrigerate for at least 240 minutes, or overnight for maximum flavor.
  3. Preheat the grill: Get your grill ready by preheating it to medium-high heat.
  4. Grill the chicken: Remove the chicken from the marinade. Grill for 5–7 minutes per side, basting with the reserved marinade occasionally. Cook until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  5. Garnish and serve: If desired, top with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve alongside rice, grilled pineapple, or coleslaw for a complete meal.

Notes

For best results, allow the chicken to marinate overnight for enhanced flavor and tenderness.
