Description
Quick and flavorful chicken bites coated in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce, perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch (optional)
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 1/4 cup honey
- 3 tablespoons low-sodium chicken stock
- 1-2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional, Sriracha recommended)
- 1 teaspoon red chili pepper flakes (for garnish)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the chicken: In a bowl, toss together the chicken cubes with cornstarch, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
- Heat the skillet: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium-high heat.
- Cook the chicken: Add the chicken in a single layer. Cook for about 6-8 minutes, turning occasionally until golden brown and cooked through.
- Add garlic: Once the chicken is cooked, reduce the heat and add the minced garlic. Stir for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Create the sauce: Pour in the honey, chicken stock, lemon juice, and hot sauce if using. Stir well to coat the chicken evenly.
- Simmer: Allow the mixture to simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and clings to the chicken.
- Garnish and serve: Remove from heat, garnish with parsley and chili flakes. Serve hot over rice or noodles.
Notes
Cornstarch is optional but helps to create a slightly crisp texture. Use good-quality honey for the best flavor. Adjust the heat level with hot sauce according to preference.
