A simple and rewarding recipe for making homemade pizza dough that allows for endless topping possibilities.
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Mix the yeast and sugar in warm water and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Combine the flour and salt in a large bowl. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Stir the mixture until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough to release air and roll out to desired thickness.
- Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C). Add toppings and bake for 12-15 minutes until crust is golden brown.
Notes
For gluten-free options, use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend. For the best rise and flavor, use fresh yeast.
