Description

Enjoy warm, pillowy homemade jelly donuts filled with your favorite jam, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk, warmed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Jam or jelly of your choice (strawberry, raspberry, or blueberry)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  2. Whisk together the warmed milk, eggs, and melted butter until well blended in another bowl.
  3. Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough into a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size, about 60 minutes.
  6. Punch down the dough to release air and roll it out to 1/2 inch thick.
  7. Use a glass to cut out circles from the dough.
  8. Allow the circles to rise again for approximately 30 minutes.
  9. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  10. Carefully fry each donut until golden brown on both sides—about 2-3 minutes each.
  11. Drain the donuts on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  12. Fill each donut with your chosen jam or jelly using a piping bag.
  13. Roll the filled donuts in powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, substitute almond milk and coconut oil. Make sure to test oil temperature before frying.
