Description

A hearty and comforting layered dish that combines seasoned ground beef, melted cheese, and vibrant salsa between tortillas, creating a delightful twist on traditional lasagna.

Ingredients

  • Flour tortillas
  • Ground beef
  • Salsa
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Monterey Jack cheese
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Onion
  • Garlic
  • Cumin
  • Olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the diced onion and minced garlic, sauté until fragrant and softened, about 2–3 minutes.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet, season with salt, pepper, and cumin. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5–7 minutes.
  4. Spread a thin layer of salsa at the bottom of a baking dish.
  5. Begin layering by placing flour tortillas over the salsa.
  6. Add a layer of the seasoned ground beef mixture on top.
  7. Sprinkle a generous layer of cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese on top.
  8. Repeat the layering process until the dish is filled, finishing with a layer of cheese at the top.
  9. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a healthier option, consider whole wheat tortillas or black beans for a meatless version. Store leftovers in airtight containers or freeze for later use.
