Description

Grilled carrots come alive with smoky flavors and a touch of sweetness, making them a perfect side dish for any meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound carrots, sliced lengthwise if thick
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill to around 450°F for direct and indirect cooking.
  2. Toss the prepared carrots in olive oil, then place them on the grill over direct heat.
  3. Rotate the carrots every few minutes until they are golden-brown and fork-tender, about 12-15 minutes.
  4. Brush the glaze made from butter, brown sugar, honey, orange juice, and cinnamon roughly one minute before removing them from the grill.
  5. Cook for another minute before removing from the heat, then brush with the glaze again before serving.

Notes

Use fresh, crisp carrots for the best texture. Local honey enhances flavor and adds potential health benefits. Consider adding herbs like thyme or rosemary for extra aroma.
