A comfort food dish combining the best flavors of tacos in a crustless, low-carb pie perfect for weeknight meals and gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
- 3 T taco seasoning
- 2/3 cup heavy whipping cream
- 4 large eggs
- 1/3 cup chunky salsa
- 1 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 tsp garlic salt
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and position the oven rack in the center. Grease a 9” pie pan and set aside.
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet, breaking it apart as it cooks until thoroughly browned. Drain excess grease.
- Sprinkle taco seasoning over the beef and stir well to combine. Spoon the mixture into your prepared pie pan.
- Whisk together heavy cream and eggs in a separate bowl. Add salsa, 1 cup of shredded cheese, garlic salt, and black pepper, mixing until blended.
- Pour the creamy mixture over the beef in the pie pan. Top with remaining 1/4 cup of shredded cheese.
- Bake uncovered for 35 to 40 minutes, until center is set and top is golden brown.
- Let cool for 5 minutes before cutting into it.
Notes
Can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version. Shredding your own cheese is recommended for better texture.
