Description

A quick and easy beef and broccoli dish that brings the flavor of your favorite takeout right to your kitchen.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Flank Steak (thinly sliced against the grain)
  • 1/4 cup Low Sodium Soy Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Packed Light Brown Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Corn Starch
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Ginger (grated finely)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/2 cup Hot Water
  • 1 tsp Sesame Oil
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil or Vegetable Oil
  • 4 cups Fresh Broccoli Florets
  • Sesame Seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive or vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  2. Add 1 pound of thinly sliced flank steak to the skillet. Cook for about 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is browned and just cooked through.
  3. Remove the cooked steak from the skillet and set it aside on a plate.
  4. In the same skillet, toss in 4 cups of fresh broccoli florets and stir-fry for about 3–4 minutes until the broccoli is bright green and crisp-tender.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup of low sodium soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of packed light brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of corn starch, 1 tablespoon of grated fresh ginger, 2 minced garlic cloves, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1/2 cup of hot water.
  6. Pour the sauce mixture over the broccoli in the skillet. Stir to coat the veggies and bring to a simmer.
  7. Return the cooked beef to the skillet and stir everything together, ensuring the beef is well-coated with the savory sauce.
  8. Finish by drizzling 1 teaspoon of sesame oil over the stir-fry.
  9. Optional: Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for a little crunch and visual flair before serving!

Notes

Make sure to cook the beef quickly to keep it tender. It’s better to undercook slightly, as it will continue cooking once combined with the broccoli.
