Description
Deliciously crispy and golden hash browns, perfect for breakfast or as a comforting side dish. Enjoy them with your favorite toppings!
Ingredients
- 2 large potatoes
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
Instructions
- Start by peeling the large potatoes. Using a box grater, grate them into thin shreds, ensuring even cooking.
- Rinse the grated potatoes under cold water. This helps remove excess starch, which can make the hash browns mushy. After rinsing, drain and thoroughly pat them dry with a clean towel.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. A hot skillet is essential for achieving that golden crispiness.
- Add the drained grated potatoes to the skillet. Press them down gently into an even layer, ensuring they cook evenly.
- Season the potatoes with salt and pepper, sprinkling generously according to your taste.
- Cook for about 5 to 7 minutes. Keep an eye on them; you want the bottom side to become a beautiful golden brown and crisp.
- Flip the hash browns carefully using a spatula. Cook for another 5 to 7 minutes on the other side until golden and crispy as well.
- Serve immediately while they’re hot, possibly accompanied by a dipping sauce of your choice.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding fresh herbs like chopped parsley or grated cheese. Ensure grated potatoes are thoroughly dried for maximum crispiness.
