A quick, comforting skillet dish featuring shrimp and smoked sausage in a creamy, spicy sauce, perfect for a low-carb lifestyle.
Ingredients
- 1 lb shrimp (peeled and deveined)
- 12 oz smoked sausage (sliced)
- 2 tbsp olive oil (for sautéing)
- 2 tbsp butter (adds richness)
- 1 medium onion (diced)
- 1 medium red bell pepper (chopped)
- 1 medium green bell pepper (chopped)
- 2 tbsp cajun seasoning (adjust to preference)
- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 cup chicken broth (enhances flavor)
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream (creates a rich sauce)
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (adds heat, optional)

- Add the diced onion and chopped bell peppers to the skillet, cooking for about 5 minutes until they soften.
- Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for one more minute, letting it become fragrant.
- Mix in the sliced smoked sausage, cooking until its edges turn golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
- Gently toss in the peeled shrimp, cooking until they turn pink—roughly another 3-4 minutes.
- Combine the chicken broth, heavy whipping cream, and cajun seasoning in the pan. Stir well to mix everything.
- Lower the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 5-7 minutes, allowing it to thicken and the flavors to meld.
